What is a CDDO?

The CDDO of Butler County is a Community Developmental Disability Organization (CDDO). CDDOs were established with the development of the DD Reform Act to assist with enforcing the rights of persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in the State of Kansas. A CDDO is the agency that ensures support and services are available for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

CDDO Responsibilities

  • Act as the single point of entry for application into developmental disability services
  • Determine eligibility for supports, services and funding
  • Work with applicants or guardians to  choose from an array of local service options
  • Affiliate with Community Service Providers (CSPs) who provide direct services to the DD population
  • Review and determine approval of requests for services or funding
  • Manage local, state and federal waiting lists for services
  • Oversee quality assurance of services provided from the CSPs
  • Advocates for individuals with I/DD

Kansas currently has 27 CDDOs, covering all 105 counties in Kansas. Each CDDO is assigned a particular county or counties in which they are the primary provider of “gate-keeping” services.
